Angel Beats!

9.25 (very good) Angel Beats is a great mix of different elements that turned out to be brilliant. With “immortal” characters, different weapons and a great animation, the story is involving and captured me completely from the first episode. There were pure epic fight scenes, mainly with Yuri, AKA “Haruhi Suzumiya with a heart”, but it also exceeded in comedy at many moments and also drama. I cried, laughed, and got impressed with the animation on some tenshi (angel) scenes. The more we understood of the objectives of the world, in which the story is told, the more we wanted to know the past of each character, and that’s where the story could be better. In 12 episodes it’s hard to tell the past of each character, but I think there was so much story to be told, like how everyone died or something. And the last episode focused on the emotional so much that the story got slow and very different than the rest of the episodes. In summary, it was great, worth to watch, but the length ruined it a little. How shallow minded!

10.00 (excellent) Wonderful plot and animation. I loved it since I read the summary: childhood friends that reunite to fulfill a special mission for an old friend that just happens to be dead. Due to the outstanding drama and love pentagons, each episode is full of emotions and very well designed to lead us to a perfect, and so respectable, ending. I felt sympathy for each character, understanding the reasons for some strange behaviors during the story, even though some personalities were opposite in so many ways.

9.50 (excellent) Favorite childhood anime. Of course that it’s very repetitive and stereotyped, especially on the romance Serena/Darien and in the sailor scouts friendship, but it's still fantastic. It’s a very good lesson of determination, priorities, and I still remember those songs about the power of love.

10.00 (excellent) A must see! Who likes intelligent plots, well developed, slowly but capturing, with suspense and breath-taking moments will love Death Note. Loved the philosophy of the anime, pointing out two different but eloquent ways of justice, making me get in between Light’s and L’s mind. Really epic. I lost a little bit of interest toward the end, when there was N, but the ending was great.

9.50 (excellent) Not really original, but for its genre it was great. I’m not a drama fan, and the story didn’t make me cry, but the animation was out of standard good. Awesome images, full of meanings, beautiful and colorful. Also, even thought the story is slow, it doesn’t get boring. Important lesson of life on relationships and distance.

9.50 (excellent) intelligent and clean, without much stalling on the cases. The story is told in 1924, so the animators did a wonderful thing with the wardrobe, making awesome clothes for the characters. Victorique is an epic character, and around her a lot of mystery is involved, especially when there are a large number of deaths of minor characters on the story, but she remains fully rational. But then she doed have her childish and cute moments a little bit too often around Kujo, so it looks like a light romance novel. Anyways, the story goes in deep in her and we see some of the solved cases intertwined, and from mystery, the plot develops to drama and action, with a surprising ending. I loved so much the first case, that I raised my expectations too high, making the rest of the story kind of lame, but that was my problem, cause if you analyze it really well, for the mystery lovers, the story was flawless.

K-On!

Last Updated: Mar 01, 2013

10.00 (excellent) I am totally, completely, 100% in LOVE with K-ON!! Best anime I've seen so far. It's cute, funny, it relaxes with the great plots and intoxicates with it's fantastic vicious music!! Anyone who likes slice of life, comedy and great Japanes music, K-on is a complete buffet. He fulfilled my need to see young girls having fun with the excuse of a band(because they almost don't practice, even though they play perfectly) with new circumstances each episode. I loved every song, specially the ones sung by Mio (Hikasa Yoko), and each beat and rhythm. The animation was perfect, mainly for making the best out of the comedy and cute moments. Even with the stereotyped Yui as the main character, I found myself loving Ritsu and Sawa-chan almost criminally because of the funny moments. Movie was as perfect as it could be. Best describe word: EPIC!!!

Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Last Updated: Mar 01, 2013

10.00 (excellent) Madoka made my anime life worth it. I never would expect such a brilliant story in some foolish hair colored girls and a plot about magic in high school, but I soon realized that I was totally wrong. Magnificent fast action with surprisingly fine weapons(like Mami's and Kyoko's).The spectacular youtube videos about MSMM are the living proof of the great scenes. Friendship/love was combined with hardcore drama making the cherry of the cake. In my opinion, it was like a lesson of responsibility, in which magic comes with a high price. And even thought it might seem like some girls trying to save the world, in reality, there just paying the price for their desires, and Kyube remembers us of that the whole anime. My favorite action anime so far.

Ranma 1/2

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Mar 01, 2013

8.25 (good) Rumiko Takahashi is a genius and I appreciate all her creations. Ranma is a classic and was perfect by the time, but looking it now, the animation was floppy and the story was repetitive. I personally didn't like the sublime message that being a women is easier than being a man. The only moments Ranma felt difficulty was to fight as women, but on the other moments he could use his perfect female curved body to win attention and be better treated. Still on that, there were a lot of nude scenes that were unnecessary, specially on the public bathrooms, but I'm guessing that's what made it so popular. The second movie and the OVAs were better in animation, plot and music, but the 161 episodes are easy to watch. Everyone that becomes a fan, I advise djclyve, a youtube channel that goes deep inside the episodes and characters with great point of view. Best character in my opinion: Nabiki!

10.00 (excellent) Amazing!! Best anime movie I've seen so far... It has a nice humor, comedy, drama, action and science/fiction. The story got me thrilled from the start. Makoto is so predictable, but what goes on on the background is so outstanding and unpredictable that the story becomes very interesting!
